Even before the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has been played between the defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 31st March, there is already number of teams who have number of players ruled out due to injury.
The injury list just keeps on growing as the days keep approaching the first match of the IPL 2023. Already some of the big names have been ruled out of the competition such as Jonny Bairstow, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Will Jacks, meanwhile players like Shreyas Iyer, Josh Hazlewood, Rajat Patidar are all doubtful.
Another latest addition to the list of the injured player is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s last year’s rising star Mukesh Choudhary. In 13 matches that he played in IPL 2022, he took 16 wickets.
The CSK fans were hoping bowling partnership between Deepak Chahar and Mukesh Choudhary. Now that the left-arm pacer is almost out of IPL 2023, we take a look at 3 players who can replace in CSK squad.
Varun Aaron
If we go through the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling line-up, we will see that they don’t any good proper fast bowler. Deepak Chahar is their best bowler, but he is a medium pacer. In such a scenario, the addition of Varun Aaron could be great for the franchise. He has played 50 matches in the IPL and has 42 wickets to his name.
V Koushik
Another great addition to the team would Karnataka’s 30-years-old right-arm medium pacer V Koushik or Vasuki Koushik. The pacer had a great outing in the domestic cricket this season and looks in good rhythm. CSK can pounce on this opportunity and get the player for IPL 2023. He has played 32 T20 matches in his career and has taken 40 wickets.
Mujtaba Yousuf
The best bet and our pick to replace Mukesh Choudhary would be Jammu and Kashmir’s left-arm pacer Mujtaba Yousuf. The player is a quality player and just like Mukesh Choudhary, brings that left-arm pacer option to play alongside Deepak Chahar. He is just 20-years-old and could be great investment. Since making his debut in 2019, he has played 21 matches and has already taken 20 wickets at an economy rate of 7.67.
