“He is getting injured a lot” – Yuvraj Singh makes bold statement on Rohit Sharma as India Test captain

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has made a big statement regarding Rohit Sharma as the Test captain of the Indian cricket team. Yuvi said that Rohit Sharma is now at such a stage of age from where he has to take great care of his body and fitness and that is why he should not have been made the captain of the Indian Test team.

Rohit Sharma was appointed the captain of the Indian cricket team in the longest format of the game after Virat Kohli abruptly resigned from his role as the captain of the Indian Test side.

Before being made the captain of the Test side, Rohit Sharma has already assumed control of leadership duties for the One Day International (ODI) and T20I. According to Yuvraj Singh, Rohit should have got the captaincy earlier in the shorter format but it did not happen due to the consistent performance of the team. However, he should not have been made the Test captain at current time.

During a conversation with Home of Heroes on Sports18, Yuvraj Singh said that he has played under Rohit Sharma and there is no doubt that he is a amazing captain Rohit Sharma is a very amazing captain. But added that Rohit should have been made the captain in shorter format a bit earlier, but admitted that the team was doing so good that it was really impossible.

Yuvraj Singh further said that the decision to make Rohit Sharma the Test captain has been taken out of emotion. He said that there was talks that the decision on him becoming captain would depend on his fitness.

He continued that he is at such a stage of age where he has to take care of his body and believes that Test captaincy is putting extra pressure on him. He added that, “He is getting injured a lot. He is at that age where he must look after his body.”
