Yashasvi Jaiswal on cusp of breaking "All-time" IPL record in history; needs 42 more runs to become first Indian batter

The 60th game of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is currently under way in Jaipur between the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challenger Bangalore. It is an important game for both teams in order to qualify for the playoffs. It is a virtual quarterfinal because whoever loses the game is likely to be left behind in the race to the next round.

RR is currently in 5th place with 12 points, while RCB is in 7th with 10 points on the points table. However, this will be a true contest between two powerful batting sides in the competition. The top 3 batters from both sides are in form and scoring runs consistently.

Faf du Plessis and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the top run-getters in the competition right now. Both batteries have scored nearly 600 runs and will look to surpass each other in today’s game. The RR opener is in great form and is providing his team with some great starts.

Jaiswal has scored 575 runs in 12 innings with one century and four half-centuries and scored the fastest IPL half-century off 13 balls in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders. Ahead of the game against RCB, he was just one run behind Du Plessis for the “Orange Cap.”

When the left-hander comes to bat against RCB on Sunday, he will be eyeing a huge record. Notably, former PBKS star Shaun Marsh holds the record for most runs by an uncapped player in the IPL with 616 runs in the inaugural season in 2008. That is still a record.

But if Jaiswal can score 42 runs on Sunday, he will break the “all-time” record in the IPL. Earlier, the left-hander surpassed Ishan Kishan’s tally of 516 runs with his 98 not out against KKR. Moreover, it is a very important game for both teams because a win can ensure they are still alive in the tournament.
