While the excitement for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season is at its very peak, however, injuries to some of the major star players just before the league could begin has dented the excitement a bit.
Some of the famous players who are sure to be missing either the whole or a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season includes the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Will Jacks, Prasidh Krishna, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah among a number of players.
Another whose situation at the moment is very much unsure is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)’s middle-order hard hitting batsman Glenn Maxwell. There is still question mark over the batter’s participation in the IPL 2023 and how much would he be able to contribute to RCB.
For those of you who are not aware, Glenn Maxwell has been going through a long rehabilitation process after suffering a injury in November 2022 during a Birthday party. Maxwell had to go through a surgery and was ruled out of the game for quite some time.
There were rumours before the IPL 2023 Auction that RCB may even be forced to let Maxwell go. After going through a rehabilitation process, he was part of the Australian team squad that played India in 3 match ODI series and played opening match and scored just 8 runs.
He was then dropped from the team as he was not fully fit. Now that the IPL franchises are assembling, reports have emerged about Maxwell’s injury when the Aussie batter himself talked about it.
Talking in a latest video uploaded on their social media by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Glenn Maxwell informed the fans that he is still not fully fit to play and he still needs about months to be in match playing conditions.
“The leg’s okay. It’s going to be a number of months before I’m 100 per cent. Hopefully it’s (leg) good enough to get through the tournament and still do the job,” said Maxwell. Now according to Maxwell’s statement, even though he feels he is not fully fit, he will play in IPL 2023 if given the chance to play.
Maxwell was one of the important member of the team in IPL 2022 and his 301 runs in 13 matches were crucial enough to take his team to the Playoffs. RCB will kick-off their journey in the IPL 2023 this year on the 2nd of April against the Mumbai Indians.
