Wasim Jaffer Suggests An Unconventional Batting Order For The Next Game

India and New Zealand game at Kanpur ended in a draw. Virat Kohli is all set to return to the squad for the next game in Mumbai. Hence, there have been discussions happening as to who could drop out of the XI. In this article, we take a look as Wasim Jaffer suggests an unconventional batting order for Team India for the next game that is set to begin in Mumbai on December 3rd.

India fail to win the Kanpur Test

Although Day 5 started on a frustrating note for Team India, they managed to come back in the game with a few quick wickets. However, the side led by Ajinkya Rahane could not manage to break the last partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel. Hence, the team missed out on a few crucial points by just one wicket.

Meanwhile, discussions have begun on who shall be dropped for Virat Kohli from the next game. At the moment, it’s a toss-up between Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Agarwal. Wasim Jaffer had an interesting suggestion for the management.

The former Indian opener said, “I think I will open with Saha if at all Mayank goes out because then everybody bats out of their position. Pujara will open, and then Rahane will bat at some other position. If Saha opens then everyone bats at the same position. And you can do that in Indian conditions with Saha.”

While Wasim’s suggestion seems reasonable, it needs to be seen if Team India will take the risk. Even Saha’s form with the bat is not great although he scored a fifty in Kanpur. Asking him to open could be a tough ask especially if India bats in the second innings. In that case, he might have to come out to bat after keeping for a long time.
