Wasim Jaffer posts a hilarious tweet after 17 wickets fall on Day 1 of England vs New Zealand series

The first Test match of the scheduled 3 match Test series between the England cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team is well underway in London’s iconic Lord’s cricket ground. And India’s Wasim Jaffer had a hilarious reaction to all the happenings of the Day 1.

So far, all the action unfolded quite well on the first day of the series as a total of 17 wickets fell on day 1 itself. James Anderson and debutant Matty Potts with the ball was ruthless for the English team, while Tim Southee and Trent Boult led the charge for New Zealand.

The match began with Kane Williamson winning the toss and opting to bat first. However, his decision absolutely blindsided when James Anderson wreck havoc at the early stages. Matty Potts, who is making his England debut, displayed outstanding bowling performance as well, as both the duo bagged 4 wickets each with New Zealand dismissed for 132 runs.

There was a major collapse on the cards for England, who were at 3 wickets loss for 92 runs, and from there, they ended the day’s play with 7 wickets down.

Summing the whole day 1’s drama, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer posted a hilarious tweet on his social media. Jaffer a posted a image of Salman Khan’s song ‘Character Dheela’ and wrote on his post, “When 17 wkts fall in a day at Lord’s, talk is about skills of the bowlers. When 17 wkts fall in a day at Ahmedabad, talk is about conditions.”

Returning back to the match, Day 2’s play has begun at the Lord’s cricket ground and England, though managed to take the first inning lead, were dismissed for 141 runs, taking a lead of 9 runs.

Tim Southee took 4 wickets while Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson bagged 3 and 2 wickets respectively. As of writing this, New Zealand are batting in their inning and has scored 56 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
