After a disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021, a lot of questions were raised on the Indian cricket team players. With almost six months left for the T20 World Cup 2022 edition to begin, cricket experts are busy picking players who can do well for the Indian team in the mega event. The performance of the players in the ongoing IPL 2022 will certainly leave an impact on the selectors.
In the same sequence, former Indian cricketers Wasim Jaffer has also selected some players for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Jaffer’s main focus was India’s all-rounder department, where there seems to be some problem for Team India, as they tested a number of players in that position.
Jaffer conceded that Hardik Pandya would be the first choice as an all-rounder if he can bowl 2-3 overs in every match as the team already has quality batsmen in the middle order.
Then he picked Ravindra Jadeja and chose Axar Patel as his backup. However, he was still not sure about the selection of Venkatesh Iyer, Shivam Dubey and Rahul Tewatia.
Furthermore, Jaffer said that Deepak Chahar is according to him the number one fast bowler with the new ball, and should be picked if he passes all the fitness tests.
Wasim Jaffer said on Crictracker’s ‘Not Just Cricket’ show that it will be interesting to see because Hardik Pandya is not bowling much and that the selectors will include him in the team only if he is able to bowl two to three overs along with batting.
He continued that there are many batsmen in the all-round department and that Ravindra Jadeja should definitely get a place in the team.
