This T20 World Cup 2022 event played in Australia is probably one of the best ICC events in the recent history where all the teams were competitive. And it all ended today with a triple-header that began with a shocker as Netherlands managed to beat South Africa and knock them out of the tournament.
South Africa got into the match thinking that they had already secured the semi-finals spot, however, Netherlands came out of syllabus for them and they didn’t had any answer to that.
With Netherlands beating South Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh were hugely benefitted as the semi-finals door opened-up for them, which eventually is sealed by Pakistan.
Meanwhile, there is a moment after South Africa vs Netherlands match that went unnoticed. After Netherlands beat South Africa, Pakistan captain Babar Azam thanked Netherlands captain Scott Edwards.
In a video going viral on social media, Babar Azam, who was present during the match as they were scheduled to play Bangladesh after that match, went to Netherlands skipper and thanked him.
In a more interesting matter of fact, Netherlands captain also asked Pakistan to win against Bangladesh as that would help them to finish in top 4 of group 1 which eventually happened. Netherlands finishing in top 4 means that they have qualified for the Super 12 round for next T20 World Cup 2024 to be hosted by West Indies and USA.
Twitterati also shared their views on the video and the match and both the captains’ gesture.
