Batting first, Indian team could only score 173 runs in their respective 20 overs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma was the run scorer for India with him scoring the majority, 72 runs.
Chasing the target, Sri Lanka got off a great start as openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis both added a partnership of 97 runs. But, Sri Lanka lost their momentum in the middle-over as they failed to score at a quick rate, as such, pressure increased on them.
However, brilliant innings from captain Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa brought Sri Lanka back in the game and won the match. With that, India’s journey in the Asia Cup is also over.
