Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)’s biggest team total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) survived today as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) came close to surpassing the record in their match vs Punjab Kings.
The match number 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is currently going on in Mohali where the hosts Punjab Kings are chasing a mammoth 258 runs target vs Lucknow Super Giants.
Lucknow were asked to bat first after losing the wicket. Kyle Mayers gave Lucknow a flying start before captain KL Rahul departed. However, the player following him, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran all played aggressive inning.
Stoinis scored 72 runs while Mayers scored 54 runs. Badoni and Pooran scored 43 and 45 runs respectively and in the end posted 257 runs on the board.
With that, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)’s record for the biggest team total in IPL history survived a lucky scare. RCB had scored 263 runs in a IPL match vs the Pune Warriors India where Chris Gayle alone had scored 175 runs. See how Twitterati reacted as RCB’s record barely survived.
