The Indian fought back well in a match that they had lost by the end of the powerplay. However, they still end up losing the match by 16 runs as Sri Lanka levelled the series with 1 match still to go.
After winning the toss, the Indian captain Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first. However, the Sri Lankan opening duo of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis gave the Lankan Lions a great start as they scored 80 runs in 8 overs.
However, they lost momentum there on and lost 4 wickets for 110 runs. While it was not looking good, but then Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka played a wonderful inning as he scored 56 runs from 22 balls to post 206 runs on the board.
Chasing that, the Men in Blue lost 5 wickets early on. Then Axar Patel and Suryakumar Yadav formed a great a partnership that saw India having a chance at winning the match. In the end, it is the Lankan bowlers who got the better of the Indian batters and won the match by 16 runs.
Question marks were raised on Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill, who couldn’t add much contribution in both the matches and fans are demanding that Ruturaj Gaikwad start the matches. However, before the 3rd T20I, India head coach Rahul Dravid has already informed that there won’t be much changes in the Playing XI for the 3rd T20I. Twitterati have reacted to the same.
