We have almost reached the end of the group stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 and the matches for the semi-finals looks almost certain.
The Indian cricket team today defeated the Ireland team in their last match of the group stage to solidify their position as the 2nd best in Group B, below England.
Batting first, the Indian team scored 155 runs with Smriti Mandhana leading the charge with a brilliant 87 runs from 56 balls. The Ireland inning was curtailed midway due to rain. They scored 54 runs in 8.2 overs and fell short by 5 runs with the par score of 59 runs.
With that win for the Indian women’s cricket team, the Women in Blue in all likelihood to likely to play Australia in the 1st semi-final on the 23rd February, unless England lose by a massive margin against Pakistan and falls below India in the points table, which is unlikely.
