The 1st Test match of the 4 match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between the Indian cricket team and the Australian cricket team was all about controversy that was influenced by Australian media.
The Indian cricket team registered a brilliant win by an innings and 132 runs against Australia in the 1st Test match in Nagpur.
Batting first in the match after winning the toss, Australia could only score 177 runs. Indian spinners Jadeja and Ashwin took a total of 8 wickets, 5 of them were to returning Jadeja.
Team India meanwhile scored 400 runs in their 1st inning and took a lead of 223 runs. Rohit Sharma scored a century while India’s lower-order scored more runs than Australia’s playing XI.
Australia got out for just 91 runs in their 2nd inning and lost the match by a huge margin. But, throughout the match, the Australian media and former cricketer were at the tip of all the controversy, first starting with the pitch and then Jadeja applying ointment to his sore finger.
The Australian portrayed it as illegal. And now, once again an Australian cricket news and score website questioned India’s slip fielding position as well. An Indian fielder was fielding on his knees on slip to counter-attack the low bounce of the pitch.
However, the Australian website did get a good reply from the Indian fans.
