Tristan Stubbs: Who is the new recruit of the Mumbai Indians for IPL 2022 ?

The five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, are already going through a horrible season. However, on Thursday, the franchise also announced the replacement for the pacer. The 21-year-old uncapped South African batter has replaced him for the rest of the season. However, many of you might haven’t heard the name Tristan Stubbs, but he has got the potential to be an IPL star. He is a wicket-keeper batter who set the CSA T20 Challenge on fire with his clean and powerful hitting ability. The 21-year-old made his professional T20 debut last year. Stubbs comes from the Eastern Province of South Africa. His hard-hitting stroke play caught the eyes of the South African cricket fraternity.

He announced himself at the domestic level with a knock of 105 runs in his only second game. The 21-year-old made his debut in the shortest format for the Warriors franchise in 2021. Since then, there has been no looking back. With his quick hands and his tall height, he can clear any boundary on the field.

Tristan Stubbs’ T20 Stint

Stubbs is a member of the South African A team. He also played a few games against Zimbabwe XI. In his 17-T20-game career, he has scored over 500 runs at an average of 38.92 and an incredible 157.14 with a per ball/boundary ratio of 5.6. In the CSA T20 Challenge 2022, he ended as the second highest run-getter with 293 runs at an average and strike rate of 48.83 and 183.12, respectively.

He also smashed a total of 23 sixes in the league. As a result, he got the call to the South African “A” team for the tour of Zimbabwe. However, Stubbs hasn’t had the experience of playing in any other T20 league around the world, but his performance at South African domestic level has gradually caught the attention of the Mumbai franchise.
