Trent Boult is a world-recognized name in the cricketing world. When it comes to the game of cricket, he needs no introduction. Currently, the Kiwi pacer is engaged in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He is representing the inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals, and is also doing a decent job with the team. Boult is the leader of the pace for RR and he delivers more often than not when the team requires it.
The Kiwi speedster started his career in the IPL in the 2015 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since then, he has played for five different franchises in the cash-rich league. He has played for SRH, KKR, DC, MI, and now RR. During his 8-year long IPL career, Boult has played against many world-class batters. And more often than not, he gets the better of the opposition batter. However, there is one guy who got the better of the Kiwi speedster. And it is an Indian batsman in the IPL.
The Kiwi speedster has played 70 IPL matches and has 84 dismissals to his name. During an interaction with ESPNCricinfo, Boult disclosed the name of the batter who played him well. He was asked about any batter that was comfortable against him. But Boult said that it is none other than RR batter Karun Nair. However, both players are on the same team, so it is not possible to play a match against each other, unless they will play for different franchises.
He said that he hasn’t bowled to him in a game, but whatever the practice session both had in the nets, Karun is the one who plays him comfortably. Trent Boult concluded, “He has the ability to pick any kind of ball I throw at him in the nets, so at the moment I’m going to say, Karun Nair.”
Both players are representing the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing season. Speaking of the RR, the team is delivering a really good performance this season. Sanju Samson and his team are sitting in third place on the points table with six wins in nine matches. They need another two wins in their remaining five league games. As per the performance, it is looking quite easy for them.
Karun Nair is another Indian batsman who has been playing in the IPL for almost a decade. He made his debut in the 2013 season, and so far he has played 75 matches and scored 1483 runs, including 10 half-centuries. However, his best performance came on the international stage, when he scored a triple century in only his third test. He scored an unbeaten 303 runs in red-ball cricket and became the only Indian to do so after Virender Sehwag. He was also an integral part of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL victories in 2012 and 2024. At the 2022 mega-auction, he was picked by RR at a price of INR 1.40 cr.
