Former Pakistan cricket team’s pace bowler, who is also goes by the name Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar has made a bold claim that if Pakistani players were allowed in the Indian Premier League (IPL), then Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam would have got 15 to 20 crores INR.
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has already underway with a start so far to the season, with some exciting matches taking place and already some unknown players and youngsters have stepped up for their team.
Which in a way suggests the kind of cricketing action that we are going to witness this season in the world’s biggest T20 cricket league. Meanwhile, former Pakistani cricketer and well known pacer Shoaib Akhtar has made a bold claim regarding the IPL.
In an exclusive chat with the Sportskeeda, Shoaib Akhtar claimed that Pakistan skipper Babar Azam could have fetched 15 to 20 crore INR if he was a part of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, or in any of IPL Auction in past or in future.
With that, he also added that it would be great to see Virat Kohli and Babar Azam open the inning for an IPL franchise in coming future.
It must be noted that, after the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, Pakistani players are not allowed by the BCCI to take part in the cash rich due to the political issues between both the countries. In 2008, a total of 11 Pakistani players featured in the competition. Thereafter, the competition has seen no participation of Pakistani players.
While the IPL 2022 is currently going on in India, Pakistan is currently playing limited overs white-ball series against Australia, the 1st ODI of which is currently ongoing.
