“I’d do a pretty good job” – Shane Warne expresses his views on becoming England’s Head Coach

The last few months have been quite disastrous for the English team. As a result, head coach Chris Silverwood was stripped of the position of head coach. However, there is someone who wants to be the new head coach of the England team. And it is noone other than spin legend Shane Warne.

The former Australian leg-spinner has expressed his view on being part of the England team as a head coach. Warne has been coaching teams in different leagues. Recently, he was part of the coaching staff of London Sprit in the Hundred competition.

Shane Warne has also been part of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL for a while now. The 52-year-old expressed that he would be ideal for the job if given a chance. England are struggling in the red ball cricket from last a year or so. They faced a humiliating loss to Australia in an Ashes series, 4-0, which resulted in a few changes in the coaching staff and team. And after the resignation of Chris Silverwood, the ECB is in search of a new head coach.

Shane Warne wants to be England’s head coach

Speaking about the vacant position on Sky Sports podcast, the legend said that he would like to work with England. He added that it would be a great time if he got a chance as there are a lot of good players in the team. However, he also pointed out a few points where England are lacking on the field. He said that need to get some of the basics right and can’t bowl no-balls and drop so many catches.

The ECB has already appointed former England all-rounder Paul Collingwood as the interim head coach. And as per some various media reports it is learnt that former Australian head coach Justin Langer is also in the consideration. Talking about Langer, the spin legend said that he didn’t like the way Cricket Australia treated Langer about his resignation.

He points out that winning the Ashes and the World Cup is the best you can ask for, but whatever CA did was disgraceful. Warner further concluded, “When I didn’t hear the captain or any other players sticking up for him, saying he was fantastic, I found that really disappointing.”
