Sanju Samson stunned everyone with his brilliant display with the bat in what was just his debut season in the IPL 2013. In 11 matches that season, he scored 206 runs with an average of 25.75 and a strike rate of 115.

He kept on improving his game season by season and his numbers just kept on getting better. As a result of his stunning performance in the IPL, Samson was called-up to the Indian team for the T20I series against Zimbabwe in 2015.

However, he didn’t got a continued run and always a backup wicketkeeper batsman to MS Dhoni. But when Dhoni hang-up his boots, it was Rishabh Pant who took his place in the team, and once again Samson remained a fringe player.

However, in 2022, he has improved quite a lot and displayed his quality in all the matches he has played. He is now deemed an important member of the team and even Sanju Samson has confirm that team management is working on him.

In an interview with the media, Samson revealed that for the last one year, the team management has asked him to more focus on his finishing role. “I am getting the instructions from the management to do the finishing role in the last one year,” said the Kerala batsman.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has established a good name over the last couple of years in the Test format in particular, however, he is yet to display his true class in the T20I format for India. In such cases, Dinesh Karthik has been inducted into the team as a finisher and Pant is having to make way for the veteran.

However, after Karthik has done his job, Team India will be once again down to Rishabh Pant and as thus preparing Sanju Samson to fill that role.
