Ravichandran Ashwin talks about why Virat Kohli was missing from Team India’s first T20 World Cup warm-up match

India won by 13 runs against Western Australia in the T20 World Cup warm-up match played in Perth on 10th October. Captain Rohit Sharma was once again a flop in this match. But Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in excellent form for some time, scored another half-century in the match. At the same time, former India captain Virat Kohli was rested for this match.

Meanwhile, after the match ended, Team India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was asked a question as to why Kohli did not take part in the match. Ashwin answered this question in a funny way. He said that to answer this question, he needs to become the coach of the Indian team.

Ashwin said after the practice match that, “I wish I could walk into Rahul Dravid’s shoes one day and answer that question, but as of now, your guess is as good as mine.”

Let us tell you that Team India has been training in Perth for the last three days. Team India’s batsmen could not do anything special in the warm-up match. Thanks to the innings of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, Team India scored 158 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Western Australia could manage only 145 runs in their 20 overs.

Indian fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh performed brilliantly in the powerplay, destroying Western Australia’s top order. While one group of Team India is preparing for the World Cup in Australia, the other group is playing ODI series against South Africa in India.

The series is currently tied at 1-1 and its last match will be played on October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The first match of the series was won by South Africa while the second match was won by Team India.
