Afghanistan cricket team’s young opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz is reportedly the likely replacement for Gujarat Titans for Jason Roy, who decided to pull out of the IPL 2022 due to bio-bubble fatigue.
We are just a couple of days away from the beginning of the new era in the Indian Premeir League as after a long 10 years gap, Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to have 10 teams once again competing for the glory.
The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin from the 26th of March, Saturday. The two new teams are the Lucknow Super Giants and the Gujarat Titans who have joined the competition alongside the existing 8 teams.
During the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Gujarat Titans bought the services of the English opening batsman Jason Roy for the IPL 2022, however the player later confirmed that he won’t be taking part in the league due to bio-bubble fatigue.
Ever since then, it has been a big question as to who will replace the outgoing English batsman. There were several names that came out of the book, but it seems like none of those names were true and it is instead Afghanistan cricket team’s opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz who is likely to be Jason Roy’s replacement.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is a young, 20-years-old up-and-coming opening batsman from Afghanistan who have already good good chunk of experience of playing in various cricket leagues and showcased his exploits in all those opportunities that he got.
Gurbaz has already made his Afghanistan national team debut in the year 2019. He has represented the nation in 20 T20 International (T20I) matches and has scored 534 runs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz initially went unsold in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, which shocked a number of fans. But the youngster is likely to get another opportunity and he would want to prove himself. Gujarat Titans are yet to officially announce the replacement.
