Former Indian player and cricket expert Nikhil Chopra has revealed his picks for Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman position for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022.
Like the batsmen and bowlers, the Indian cricket team also has no shortage of good wicketkeeper-batsman in the domestic circuit, and it will be interesting to see who gets picked for the Asia Cup 2022.
Rishabh Pant has been playing the role of MS Dhoni in Team India since the 2019 World Cup and is currently a permanent member of the national team. However, India also have other options in the form of KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan and Dinesh Karthik.
Looking at Dinesh Karthik’s excellent performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, there is all the possibilities that he can be given a chance to return to the Indian cricket team.
Nikhil Chopra said while speaking on ‘Not Just Cricket Show’ presented by Sky247.net on CricTracker that he sees Rishabh Pant as the number one choice for a wicket-keeper batsman, reasoned that Pant always looks to score runs.
He added that Rishabh Pant is someone who can finish the match on his own when given a chance and that he has been watching him since he was 17-years-old.
He further said that Rishabh Pant is not even close to being his best at the moment and that his ability to score runs against a fast bowling attack is phenomenal and thus, he is his first-choice wicket-keeper batsman for the Asia Cup 2022.
He also added that if backup is needed then that has to be KL Rahul. He added that Rahul will mainly be part of Team India as a batsman and if needed, then only he will wear the gloves.
