Former West Indies cricketer and captain Kieron Pollard, who has a huge fan following here in India, has termed on of his best friend and an Indian cricketer as a “once in many years” cricketer.
Kieron Pollard is one of those West Indies cricketer who has a huge fan following here in India. It is most down to the fact that Pollard also features in the world’s biggest T20 cricket, the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians.
And most recently, the Caribbean superstar was short of words for one of his Mumbai Indians teammate( or rather I say a former teammate) Hardik Pandya. Pollard has praised the Indian all-rounder for his tremendous comeback after an injury.
Hardik Pandya, who is Team India’s one of very important player, sustained a major injury during the T20 World Cup last year and never featured for the Indian team for long after. He made his long awaited comeback directly in the IPL leading the newcomers Gujarat Titans.
And surprisingly, he led the team to the glory in their inaugural season and his first hand try at leading a team. Not only he performed well as a captain, he also delivered with the bat, resulting in with a comeback to the Indian team.
Most recently, Pollard had joined journalist Vimal Kumar for a interview that was published on the latter’s YouTube channel. There, Pollard talked about how hard Pandya worked for his comeback.
“Hardik is work in progress. He was going through a rough time in the last couple of months. Again, we have seen the rewards of his hard work,” he said.
He also added that Hardik Pandya is a once in a many years player and wished him for his brilliant future. “He’s a brilliant cricketer. Cricketers like him come once in so many years. So again, I only wish him good luck,” said Pollard.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is currently with the Indian team in Australia preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 which starts from the 16th of October. India to take field on the 23rd October in the Super 12 round match against arch-rival Pakistan. Prior to that, the Men in Blue will also play 2 warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand on the 17th and 19th of October.
Also prior to that, the Men in Blue have got another set of warm-up matches lined-up against Western Australia XI on the 10th and 13th of October, both to be played in Perth from 4 PM Indian time.
