Indian players who won both the T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011

The Indian cricket team is one of the most successful cricket team in the world. They are considered one of the strongest of the team and always a favourite whenever an ICC tournament comes up, the likes of Cricket World Cup, T20 World Cup or the Champions Trophy.

While the Indian team was nowhere near the quality they are right now in the earlier phases, but things taken a major change after India won the 1983 World Cup. The country saw some great talents coming through over the years.

While days passed by, things changed. Cricket saw a new boy hit the tract running, the T20I format. While there was already the ODI World Cup, with rising popularity of the T20 format, ICC announced the T20 World Cup, the inaugural edition of which was played in 2007, which Team India. Other than that, those were the days when the Indian team was really good and even went on to win the Cricket World Cup in 2011.

There were some players who were involved in both the World Cup win for India. And today in this article, we take a look at the Indian players who won both the World Cups.

MS Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) was the captain of the team in both the T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup. He was a great player for the Indian team ever since making his debut and is considered one of the greatest captain ever.

Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir is a name everyone must remember. He played two crucial innings in both the World Cup finals against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. His innings has proved to be quite valuable for India in both the World Cup finals.

Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag, the hard-hitting opening batsman played as the opening partner of Gautam Gambhir in both the World Cups. However, he missed a few matches in the T20 World Cup 2007.

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, the all-rounder, was a star for the Indian team in both the World Cups. Till date, everyone remember Yuvraj hitting Stuart Broad for 6 Sixes in the T20 World Cup, and his brilliant knock that he played with cancer against Australia in the quarter-final.

Yusuf Pathan

Yusuf Pathan was considered one of the tough big hitting players during the 2007 and 2010 era. He was part of both the World Cup squad and even opened the inning in the T20 World Cup 2007 while mainly utilised as a lower-order batsman in the ODIs.

Harbhajan Singh

The Punjab born Harbhajan Singh was at that India’s great off-spin talent that they had. He was such a valuable asset for the Indian team and featured in both the World Cups and even played pivotal role as well.

Piyush Chawla

Leg-spin bowler Piyush Chawla is another player who played in the T20 World Cup 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. While he didn’t had any role in the T20 World Cup, he played some part in the 2011 ODI World Cup.

S Sreesanth

Who doesn’t remember Sreesanth taking that Misbah-ul-Haq’s catch in the final. While he had a good role in the T20 World Cup 2007, he was called-up to the team as a replacement of injured Praveen Kumar and only played in the match against England and in the final against Sri Lanka, but couldn’t take any wicket in both the matches.
