The rumours of India legends vs the Rest of the World match seems to be true. According to various reports, it the match has got a green signal and will be played on the 15th of September at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, days before the commencement of the Legends League Cricket 2022 edition.
According to reports from last month, the Indian Central Government has proposed for a match ch between the Indian legends and the Rest of the World to commemorate India’s 75th Independence celebration. The proposal was also reportedly accepted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
And now, it seems all the planning are coming to fruition as the match is to be played in the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the 15th of September, just one day before the Legends League Cricket commences on the 17th of September.
While it was proposed to be played on the 22nd of August, but due to busy schedules it was not possible. However, latest developments now confirm that the match will be played on 15th September and the Indian legends team will be led by BCCI President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly.
Other than Sourav Ganguly, the other notable names in the Indian legends squad includes the likes of Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif, Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel, Harbhajan Singh.
As for the Rest of the World team, it will be led by the England World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan. Other than that, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jonty Rhodes and Muttiah Muralitharan are part of the squad.
