Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has talked about the inclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 to be held later this year in Australia.
At the same time, Harbhajan also believes that they should not have been dropped for the T20 World Cup played last year. A few years back, the ‘Kul-Cha’ pair was an important part of Team India in limited overs cricket due to their ability to take wickets in the middle overs.
However, their form declined after the 2019 Cricket World Cup and later, they were both dropped from the team. In fact, neither of the two spinners could make it to the squad for the T20 World Cup 2021.
Nevertheless, both have returned to form and are enjoying their performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. Chahal is at the top of the Purple Cap list with 22 wickets from 11 matches, while Kuldeep is second in the list with 18 wickets.
Considering the special performance of both the players this season, many fans and experts want them to play together again for Team India. Former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is also of the same opinion, having questioned the BCCI selectors earlier as well.
Harbhajan said at the launch event of Dream Set Go that he unsure of why the selectors broked such a successful pair, who were doing well for India and demanded that ‘Kul-Cha’ be brought back into the team.
Harbhajan added that it would be great to see them bowling in Australia, where the grounds are big and they are both quality bowlers and they have the mentality of taking wickets, which will be a lot helpful.
“I certainly believe that you have to bring ‘Kulcha’ back, Kuldeep and Yuzvendra, I think they have been brilliant for team India, their mentality is always to take wickets,” said Harbhajan.
