After Afghanistan lost to New Zealand on Sunday, India was knocked out of the ongoing T20 World Cup. The team had reached the knockout stages in the last two editions. India gets knocked out of T20 WC

When the tournament started, many considered India as the firm favourites. Although Virat Kohli’s men started the warm-up games in a fine fashion, they struggled to get going in the actual competition. They lost the games to Pakistan and New Zealand by heavy margins and then came to a situation where they had to depend on other teams for their progress.

Although India kept the NRR under their control, they relied on Afghanistan to cause an upset by defeating the Kiwis. This was the only way for India to get through to the next stage. However, that did not happen. Hence, India is out of the tournament in the early stage itself.

Virat Kohli’s old tweet goes viral

Soon after India was eliminated, one of Virat Kohli’s old tweets started going viral. His tweet that was posted on March 20th, 2012 was relevant in today’s context. The post read “going home tomorrow. not a good feeling.” He had posted this tweet two days after he had executed the iconic run-chase against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.

Virat Kohli had announced a couple of weeks ago that the T20 World Cup in 2021 would be his last outing as the T20I skipper of Team India. Hence, many wanted the modern great to go on and lift the trophy in his final assignment. Now that this chance has gone, many of his fans were left disappointed.
