The Indian cricket team suffered another emphatic defeat in the ICC Finals as the Rohit Sharma led Indian team lost the World Test Championship 2023 Final vs Australia.
After being asked to bat first, Australia recovered pretty well from being 3 wickets down for 76 runs to end the inning on a high with 469 runs on the board, thanks to centuries from both Travis Head and Steve Smith.
India in response were not up to the mark as they were all out for just 296 runs, giving Australia a 173 runs lead. In the 2nd inning, the Indian bowlers performed better but Australia once again showcased their supremacy with Alex Carey playing a crucial knock to guide Australia to 270 runs and set India a target of 444 runs.
However, once again horrendous shot selection from the Indian team meant no batter was able to contribute significantly and India were all out for 234 runs, giving Australia a massive 209 runs win.
After this defeat, the Indian team fans have been quite angry on the players and the management. Even the former Indian cricketers have spoken up. And one of them is India’s World Cup 2011 hero Gautam Gambhir, who had some facts to throw.
During his live interaction with the News18, Gambhir mentioned that Indian team is not performing well because of wrong team selection and Indian fans being more obsessed with a individual player than the Indian team itself.
“Our country is not obsessed with team, it’s individual obsessed. We Count individual bigger than our team and others countries like Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Where people count team is bigger, not the any individuals,” Gambhir said during the interview.
