CSK win by seven wickets against Mumbai Indians

Although MI started well with the bat, the spinners of CSK came to the fore. They picked wickets consistently and in the end, Mumbai could score only 157 runs.

In the chase, CSK lost the early wicket of Devon Conway. However, Ajinkya Rahane had an excellent day as he scored a quickfire fifty to help CSK gain momentum in the chase. It was a stunning knock by the veteran, who took on the MI bowlers at will. Later, Ruturaj Gaikwad remained stable at the crease to help CSK cross the line.

Rohit Sharma reacts to the loss to CSK

Rohit Sharma has not been in great form with the bat in IPL 2023. He did show signs of form against CSK but was not able to kick on. As a captain, too, Rohit was found to be short of answers at certain phases.

Speaking after the game, Rohit Sharma stated that experienced players must step up. He mentioned, “The senior guys need to step up starting with me. We know the nature of IPL, when the tournament starts we need to get some momentum and when you don’t it is tough.”

He continued, saying, “Just two games and all is not lost still. If you win, you can win a few on the trot and when you lose it is hard to come out of that momentum. Hopefully, things start to change. Things we speak in the changeroom have not worked in the middle. “

Rohit concluded, saying, “We know we had a very disappointing last season, but we always start afresh, even when we won the 5 trophies, we never thought we won it last year. Every opposition is quality here and we need to be at our best to beat them. These two games have happened, and we can’t change. Of course, we can learn and be more brave in changing things on the field.”
