During a match between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, KL Rahul sustained an injury while fielding.
The player, who is also the wicketkeeper-batter, confirmed the extent of his injury and revealed that he would not be participating in the rest of the IPL 2023 season, nor in the World Test Championship Final, which is scheduled for next month.
Consequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Ishan Kishan as KL Rahul’s replacement in the Indian squad for the Final against Australia that will be played from June 7 at The Oval.
Other than that, the BCCI also confirmed that Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar and Suryakumar Yadav have been added as standby players and could be called-up to the main squad if required be.
The revised team looks like: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Ishan Kishan.
