Delhi had bought Shardul Thakur by paying a huge amount of 10.75 crores in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In IPL 2022, Shardul took 15 wickets in 14 matches with the ball but he also proved to be very expensive.

At the same time, he scored only 120 runs in 10 innings with the bat. A few days back there were reports that Delhi Capitals is looking to trade Shardul Thakur. However, the trade issue did not materialize due to the cost of the player and now the franchise has made up its mind to release him.

A few days back there were reports that Chennai Super Kings is considering to trade Ravindra Jadeja with Delhi Capitals and they want Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel in return. However, now these reports do not seem to be true and Jadeja is likely to stay with the Chennai based franchise. However, MS Dhoni will continue to lead the team as of now.
