The Lucknow team is all set to make its Indian Premier League debut this year in the 2022 edition of the league. Along with Lucknow, Ahmedabad IPL team will also make its debut. Both franchises are yet to be named, but they have been in the headlines because of the reports of their player recruitment.
The BCCI has allowed the two new franchises to sign a total of three players each ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. As per reports, the Ahmedabad franchise have locked in the trio of Rashid Khan, Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan as their three draft picks.
On the other side, the team from Uttar Pradesh has finalized KL Rahul as the captain, as per reports, while the other draft picks could be from Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada, Ravi Bishnoi, Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar.
After the three draft picks, the two franchises will enter the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, where they will fill up the rest of the spots in their team. The RPSG Group-owned franchise has confirmed that Andy Flower will be their head coach for IPL 2022, while Gautam Gambhir will be the team’s mentor. Vijay Dahiya is the assistant coach of the team.
According to reports, Ahmedabad will sign Ashish Nehra as their head coach, Vikram Solanki as director and Gary Kirsten as their mentor.

It is a well-known thing now that the new franchise from Uttar Pradesh has taken over the social media handles of Rising Pune Supergiant. One of the fans wrote on Twitter that:
“First team to IPL out of the playoff Team @TeamLucknowIPL note this.”
The franchise responded to him with the following words, and it has received more than 4,000 likes already on the micro-blogging platform:
“You know nothing, Jon Snow!”
