The third match of the ICC World Test Championship series between the South African cricket team and the Indian cricket team is currently underway at the Newlands in Cape Town, with the visitors gaining an upper hand in the match. Returning skipper Virat Kohli called the coin toss right and elected to bat first. A five-wicket haul from Jasprit Bumrah gave the visitors a 13-run first innings lead, but Dale Steyn had something to say regarding his approach while bowling to Marco Jansen.
The Indian cricket team batted first and posted a 223-run score in their first innings thanks to a 79-run knock from the skipper Virat Kohli. South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada shone for the home team with a four-wicket haul in the first innings, whereas young left-arm fast bowler Marco Jansen backed him up with an excellent three-wicket haul.
In reply, the South African cricket team were all out for 210 runs. Keegan Petersen was the top-scorer for the Proteas with a 166-ball 72. Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj got off to good starts but could not convert it into big scores.
Dale Steyn made a comment after Jasprit Bumrah bowled to Marco Jansen
Former Mumbai Indians teammates Marco Jansen and Jasprit Bumrah have had an intense rivalry in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series. Commenting on the same, Dale Steyn wrote on Twitter:
“Free hit for No Ball in Test Cricket… What you think? Will definitely help the bowlers (when batting) survive those extended 7/8 and sometimes 9 ball overs we’ve seen happen before… 6 balls is Hard enough for the tailenders facing a top class life threatening fast bowler.”
A fan reminded him about how Jansen also bowled bouncers to Bumrah during the previous Test, but Steyn replied to him and wrote that he bowled six balls only.
