“…. They have the potential to become superstars” – Pakistan captain Babar Azam identifies 3 Pakistani players who will be Next Big Thing in World Cricket

Prior to the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, identified Saim Ayub, Omair Bin Yousuf, and Mohammad Haris as potential rising stars for the team in the future.

Azam advised the young players to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of international cricket and emphasized the importance of simplicity and following the process.

Saim Ayub, a 20-year-old player, has already represented Pakistan in eight T20I matches, but his performance has been modest, with a total of 123 runs. However, Ayub has shown great potential in domestic cricket, averaging 32.25 in first-class matches and 46.64 in List-A matches. With more opportunities, Ayub has the ability to excel at the international level.

On the other hand, Mohammad Haris has excelled in the Pakistan Super League but has struggled to replicate that success in international matches. Despite representing Pakistan in 14 matches, the 22-year-old has only managed to score 153 runs, which is considered poor.

As for Omair Bin Yousuf, although he has yet to make his debut, he is regarded as a promising talent who can contribute to the team’s preparations for the World Cup, scheduled to begin in October later this year.

Babar Azam expressed his opinion regarding the promising young players, saying, “Saim Ayub, Omair Bin Yousaf, and Mohammad Haris have the potential to become superstars in my view. They need to remain focused and perform their tasks diligently without putting too much pressure on themselves in the international arena.” Babar made this statement during an interview with CricWick.
