South African star all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius announced his shocking retirement from international cricket on Monday. The Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that the all-rounder has hung his boots with immediate effect. Pretorius made his debut for South Africa in 2017 against England.
He also holds the record for the best bowling figure (5/17) for his country in the shorter format of the game, which came against Pakistan. He was part of the four-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings in the last season of the TATA IPL 2022 and did a pretty good job.
He was part of six games, took six wickets, and scored 44 runs, coming lower down the order at a strike rate of 157.14. The CSK franchise also retained him for the upcoming season in 2023. Notably, while confirming his retirement, the all-rounder said that he was making the toughest decision of his career, but he also said that he will be shifting his focus to T20s and other small formats of the game for the rest of his cricketing career.
Notably, after his retirement, he will not be part of the contract with Cricket South Africa, and he will be free to take part in any league around the world. Pretorius stated that he wants to become the best in the business and balance his family and career. He has played 3 tests, 27 ODIs, and 30 T20Is for South Africa.
Basically CSK wanted retited players in Playing 11

So can't blame him
Simple logic
if you get 90 % of your yearly salary in just 2-3 months.
Why will you work in remaining 9 months to get that 10 % salary ๐คฆ

francise cricket is the way forward, we need to adapt football like approach. all these bilaterals are pointless and the top 3 boards benefit from it

I speak for everyone when I say this is a huge loss for international cricket. Dwaine, please reconsider.
