5 famous players who played in IPL but always lost

The Indian Premier League has become the most-followed cricket league on the planet. Recently, the BCCI President Jay Shah revealed the incredible viewership that the matches of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League have received. Many famous players have been a part of the IPL.

However, not everyone has been equally successful in the Indian Premier League. While the likes of AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, DJ Bravo and Kieron Pollard have achieved tremendous success in the IPL, the following five players always lost whenever they played an IPL match.

1. One of the most famous Australian players – Michael Clarke

Former Australian captain Michael Clarke led his country to the 2015 Cricket World Cup trophy on home soil. He played only one season in the IPL, and it came for the Pune Warriors in 2012. Although Clarke performed decently, Pune lost all the six matches when Clarke was in the playing XI.

2. One of the most famous Australian players – Tim Paine

Another Aussie captain to feature on this list is Tim Paine. The current Australian Test captain played for the Pune Warriors in the 2011 edition of the Indian Premier League. He played two games for the team and Pune lost both.

3. Chamara Silva

Former Sri Lankan batter Chamara Silva represented the Deccan Chargers in the inaugural IPL season. The Chargers had a forgettable outing that year. Silva played three matches for the team, and the team lost all three matches. In one of the games, Silva lost his wicket to Virat Kohli.

4. Peter Handscomb

Another Australian player to feature on this list is Peter Handscomb. The right-handed batter played a couple of matches for Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2016. The Pune-based franchise suffered a defeat in both of the matches.

5. Mohammad Ashraful

Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in 2009. He managed to score only two runs off ten deliveries. MI lost that game against Delhi by four wickets. Ashraful never played another match in his Indian Premier League career after that.
