3 Zimbabwe players many may not know were part of IPL once

Zimbabwe cricket team’s performance has fallen over the last couple of years as they couldn’t keep the development going as some other teams like Afghanistan who have overtaken them while teams like Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland are at the same level as them.

Zimbabwe have never managed to develop the way Afghanistan has developed over the years. Nowadays, a huge load of Afghanistan players plays in the IPL and or various other T20 League around the world.

As for Zimbabwe, we barely see any Zimbabwe players play let alone IPL, any other T20 Leagues in the world. There has been a couple of players in the past who have played in the IPL.

While the Indian Premier League (IPL) has played a huge role in development of Indian cricket, it has also massively helped the other teams. Today in this article, we take a look at 3 Zimbabwe players that a very few know that they played in the IPL.

Brendan Taylor

Zimbabwe cricket team’s veteran batsman Brendan Taylor was part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the 2014 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Taylor is one of most dependable middle-order batsman for Zimbabwe. However, according to some reports, he never joined the SRH camp as his service was not needed at that time.

Tatenda Taibu

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Tatenda Taibu was the very first Zimbabwe player ever to play in the IPL. He was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team in the first couple of seasons of the competition. He though only played 3 matches and scored 31 runs.

Ray Price

Very few may know that former Zimbabwe left-arm spin bowler Ray Price was a member of the Mumbai Indians squad in the IPL 2011. He however has played only 1 match in his IPL career, that was against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he failed to take any wicket and was released after that season.
