3 stadiums in India where no International matches have been played for a decade or longer


In Indian cricket, there is always a crowd of spectators on the grounds. Although the fans of the Indian cricket team gather inside and outside the field even to see them for a moment. It is the result of the game and performance of Indian players that the audience loves the players so much.


Fans of Indian team are found from small town to big city. It is a bit difficult for the fans of villages and towns to watch the cricket match in the stadium but they go to the city a day before and make their arrangements and enjoy the match there.

In India, almost every state has a cricket stadiums. There are also some states which have three or more stadiums, Maharashtra and Gujarat are prominently among them.


Apart from this, India also have some of the most iconic stadiums in the world of cricket as well as the world’s biggest cricket stadium in the form of newly renovated Motera Stadium. There is no lack of cricket stadiums in India.

But, in the midst of all this, there are many stadiums where matches have not been held for years, in other words, those stadiums have been left isolated. Today in this article, we take a look at 3 different venues/ stadiums in India where cricket has not been played for the last decade or so.

Barkatullah Khan Stadium

It has been 18 years since the last matches took place at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The last ODI match that was played here was between India and West Indies in 2002. Indian team defeated West Indies in that match. The importance of this stadium in Jodhpur was not understood as the Sawai Mansingh Stadium of Jaipur got more attention.


Captain Roop Singh Cricket Stadium

Captain Roop Singh Cricket Stadium in Gwalior is the same ground where Sachin Tendulkar scored the first double century of world cricket. It was a match against South Africa that took place in 2010. Since then no international match has been held at this stadium. Instead of this stadium, matches are now being held in Indore. This magnificent stadium is now being overlooked and has been left isolated.

Keenan Stadium

The last ODI match that was played at the Keenan Stadium was between India and England in 2006. England had defeated the Indian team back then. After that though, no international match has been held here so far. After the construction of the stadium in Ranchi, this stadium has been overlooked. Many sports lovers do not even remember when the last match was even held here.
