3 popular players who have scored back-to-back hundreds in T20 cricket but you don’t expect them to do so

T20 cricket, ever since its arrival, has completely changed the complexity of the game of bat and ball. While Test cricket was the traditional format of the game, there was then a 60 overs One Day International (ODI) format.

But ever since the T20 cricket has come, the game of bat and ball has changed completely. It is no more about himself the player on the ground as long as possible and build the inning with classy shots, but it is rather now a game of just bashing the ball, doesn’t matter the result.

In Test cricket, scoring 20 runs in 50 to 60 or even more balls is considered good batting, but in T20 cricket, that is nothing less than a crime these days. Scoring consistent big hits is a must in T20 cricket.

But, playing big hits means that a player can’t perform at the same level consistently for multiple matches and there are chances one day he score 50 runs and the next match he gets out on 0.

But there have been players who have managed to keep their consistency. Today, in this article, we take a look at 3 popular players who have scored back-to-back hundreds in T20 cricket, whom you don’t expect to do so.

Steve Smith

The Australian cricket team’s right-hand batsman Steve Smith is a very good player. He is considered among some of the greats of today’s generation. But he has been much better in Test and ODI format of the game than T20 cricket. People don’t expect him to score hundreds in T20 cricket, that too with good strike rate. But he proved everyone wrong with his batting in the ongoing Big Bash League. While playing for the Sydney Sixers, Steve Smith scored back-to-back hundreds. He scored 101 runs vs Adelaide Strikers and 125 runs against Sydney Thunders in the next match.

Shikhar Dhawan

While Shikhar Dhawan has had a magnificent career playing for the Men in Blue, he is not the type of batsman who would smash every ball in T20 cricket. He likes to build his inning, which is why he doesn’t get much chances to score hundreds in T20 cricket. But Shikhar Dhawan has also proven his credentials in T20 cricket when he scored back-to-back hundreds vs Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings in the IPL. He scored 101 runs vs CSK and 106 runs vs Punjab.

Kevin Pietersen

Former England veteran cricketer Kevin Pietersen was one of the greats of his time, but mostly in the longer formats of the game i.e. the Test cricket and ODI cricke. He didn’t play much T20 cricket in his career as the format did not suit him well. However, he is one of those players who have scored back-to-back century in T20 cricket. He did so in the erstwhile Ram Slam League in South Africa while playing for the Dolphins. He scored 115 and 100 runs in back-to-back matches.
