T20 World Cup Asia Cup 2022

The Indian team’s performance in the Asia Cup 2022 was disappointing. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the team’s journey ended in Super 4 only. Seven-time champion Indian team failed to reach the final for the first time since 2014. The main reason for this performance of the Indian team is believed to be some key players not coming in form on time.

After the Asia Cup, the Indian team squad has been announced for the T20 World Cup 2022 starting in October in Australia. The team, which leaves for Australia in October for the World Cup, also includes some players whose performance was not special in the Asia Cup.

In this article today we take a look at 3 such players who will leave with the Indian team for Australia in October despite their not so good performance in the Asia Cup 2022.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal, who was India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 before the Asia Cup, performed moderately. He took only 4 wickets in four matches at an average of 31.75 and an economy of 7.94, out of which he took three wickets in a single match.

The player Chahal is, of course, he did not perform as expected in the Asia Cup, but due to the failure of just a few matches, his talent cannot be underestimated. This is the reason why he has been selected in the squad for the T20 World Cup despite his performance in Asia Cup 2022.

Rishabh Pant

Considering the kind of batsman Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant is, it would not be wrong to say that he is an expert in changing the course of the match on his own. Although he is yet to find success for India in T20Is, his ability to single-handedly win matches is well known. This is the reason that he is constantly being included in the T20 team as the main wicketkeeper batsman, though he might play 2nd fiddle to Dinesh Karthik in the World Cup.

Pant scored only 51 runs in 4 matches in the Asia Cup 2022 at an average of 25.50. Despite this, he has been included in the T20 World Cup squad as a wicketkeeper batsman alongside Dinesh Karthik.

Arshdeep Singh

Young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh may not have been able to impress much in terms of wickets so far but he is quite impressive during the death overs. In the Asia Cup, Arshdeep has taken only 5 wickets in five matches, but considering his accurate death bowling in the last over against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, it can be guessed that he will do better in the coming days.

India does not have any good left-arm fast bowler either in International nor in the domestic circuit yet. In such a situation, Arshdeep Singh has been given a chance in the T20 World Cup due to accurate bowling in the death overs and being left-arm pacer which India has been searching for a long while.
