Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore produced an electrifying game on Monday at the Ekana Stadium. In the end, it was RCB that came out victorious by 18 runs. That match had everything in it, from drama to a verbal fight. But the biggest concern for LSG is the injury that skipper KL Rahul sustained in the first inning of the game.
In an attempt to stop a ball from going to the boundary, he pulled his hamstring and fell awkwardly. He was seen in severe pain and left the field. Later, he came out to bat in the 19th over and didn’t run. LSG will play their next game on Wednesday; it looked difficult for Rahul to recover completely. Thus, the team needs to find someone who can lead the team in the high-voltage clash against the Chennai Super Kings.
3. Quinton De Kock
Quinton de Kock can be an ideal replacement as a captain and as an opener for KL Rahul. He has loads of experience leading international teams, which he has done for South Africa. Although De Kock has yet to play a game in the ongoing tournament, if Rahul misses out, he will be required at the top, and then one of Kyle Mayers or Nicholas Pooran will have to make his way.
2. Nicholas Pooran
Nicholas Pooran is also an option. The wicketkeeper batter has experience leading the West Indies in the white-ball format and was the captain in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He is also in good form and has played some brilliant cameos down the order. Pooran has scored 225 runs at an impressive strike rate of 190.68 with 17 sixes.
1. Krunal Pandya
The veteran Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been in terrific form at the moment. He has done a good job for the team with both the bat and the ball in hand. Krunal took over the captaincy when Rahul went off the field on Monday against RCB. Thus, there are huge chances that he might be seen leading the team if Rahul doesn’t make it into the team. Krunal has scored 122 runs so far and also picked up six wickets with the ball.
