3 players Royal Challengers Bangalore may release before IPL 2023 Player Auction

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) did an amazing job in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Many young and experienced players were included by the franchise in their team in the mega auction. Faf du Plessis was appointed as the new captain after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role.

The team played very good cricket throughout the tournament but lost the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second qualifier.

While many players performed very well on one hand, there were some players who could not leave their mark in this tournament. Now that the mini auction for IPL 2023 is going to happen in no time, a lot of questions are being raised as to who will be the players that the franchise will release from their team.

Luvnith Sisodia

RCB included Luvnith Sisodia to their team in the mega auction but due to an early injury, he was ruled out for the entire season. Let us tell you, Sisodia plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and his performance has been very commendable.

After the injury, RCB included Rajat Patidar in the team in place of Sisodia. The Madhya Pradesh batsman performed amazingly throughout the tournament. Not only this, he played an important role in his team’s victory by scoring a brilliant century in the Eliminator.

Sherfane Rutherford

Sherfane Rutherford’s name also comes among some of the best T20 players from the West Indies. He is known for playing big shots. In the 2021 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Rutherford scored 262 runs at a strike rate of 127.18.

In IPL 2022, RCB included Rutherford in the team to strengthen the middle order. In the absence of Glenn Maxwell, Rutherford got to play a few matches at the start of the season but he could not make use of it. He scored just 33 runs at a strike rate of 66.

Rutherford did not get a single chance after Maxwell was added to the team. Even though Rutherford is an explosive batsman but he did not play a single big innings for RCB.

David Willey

David Willey has done wonders for England in the T20 format. He has played 241 matches in the shortest format so far in which he has taken the same number of wickets at an economy of 7.94. With the bat, he has scored 3369 runs at a strike rate of 137.96.

RCB included Willey in their team for the 15th season of the IPL. In the absence of Josh Hazlewood, David Willey played the first few matches but he could not perform well for his team.
