With the Reliance owned Mumbai Indians family going global, the team has promoted their key staff members Zaheer Khan and Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene to a global role and as such, Mumbai Indians currently requires a new head coach for the upcoming IPL 2023.

Mumbai Indians, the most successful team in the history of the IPL, had a disastrous season in IPL 2022 finishing at the bottom of the points table. However, with T20 cricket growing around the world, the Mumbai Indians family is also now growing outside India.

Next in line could be now a former South Africa cricket team head coach Mark Boucher. The former South Africa international cricketer has a good record as a coach. He was at the helm of the South African National team since the year 2019. While South Africa didn’t achieve any major success, he did worked to help restore the team’s glory days. Boucher was named the head coach of the South African domestic team Titans without any prior experience and he led them to 5 domestic titles before he took the national team job. And in fact, according to various reports, he is currently the front runner to become the next Mumbai Indians head coach.

Justin Langer

Another popular coach around the world and has a really big name is the former Australian cricket team head coach Justin Langer. Langer is not a unknown name and everyone knows of his credentials as a coach. He took the Australian team to a much greater heights but was sacked this year due to some conflicts. While Langer probably seems out of contest at the moment, but if Mumbai Indians believe he can take the team forward, Langer would very much be ready to take up the job.
