Vijaykumar Vyshak, hailing from Karnataka, is a pace bowler who made his debut in the IPL 2023 tournament for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. The match took place on April 15 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they faced off against the Delhi Capitals and Vyshak took 3 wickets in the match.
In recent years, the IPL has emerged as a desirable platform for local cricket players, and Vyshak had similar aspirations to be a part of this prestigious tournament, just like many others.
Vijaykumar Vyshak began his cricketing career playing for Karnataka in the 2021-22 season, and has since been showcasing his impressive skills as a bowler. He has exhibited a diverse range of techniques, including yorkers, knuckleballs, and more, making him a valuable asset to the team.
Although he may not have a blistering pace, Vijaykumar Vyshak’s impressive statistics demonstrate his ability to trouble batsmen on a variety of pitches.
With 38 wickets in 10 first-class matches, 11 wickets in 7 List-A matches, and 22 wickets in 14 T20s, he has proven to be a skilled bowler in various formats of the game. What’s more, his economy rate of 6.9 further adds to his impressive track record.
Despite having a successful domestic season, Vijaykumar Vyshak, like many other talented domestic cricketers, harbored aspirations of playing in the IPL. However, his hopes were dashed when he didn’t receive any bids during the IPL 2023 auction.
Despite the disappointment, Vyshak remains determined to continue improving his skills and hopes to make a mark in the future.
Undeterred by his unsuccessful attempts to secure a spot in the IPL, Vijaykumar Vyshak continued to pursue his dream. He even tried out for teams such as Lucknow Supergiants, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings but unfortunately did not receive any response.
However, his persistence paid off when he was given the opportunity to work as a net bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders, an experience that has undoubtedly helped him refine his skills and gain valuable exposure to top-level cricket.
Throughout his struggles, Vijaykumar Vyshak remained steadfast in his determination to succeed, reassuring his family that he would eventually get his chance. And finally, his perseverance paid off when the Royal Challengers Bangalore drafted him into the squad as a replacement for the injured Rajat Patidar.
As a dedicated RCB fan, Vyshak was ecstatic about this opportunity and is now more determined than ever to showcase his skills on this prestigious platform, with the hope of advancing his cricketing career.
Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore started off decently but unfortunately collapsed under pressure following the dismissal of Virat Kohli, leading the team’s score to drop from 87/2 to 137/6. However, thanks to the contributions of Shahbaz Ahmed and Anuj Rawat, the team managed to keep their innings alive and ultimately surpassed the 170-run mark, achieving a total of runs within the designated 20 overs.
Thanks to Vijay Kumar Vyshak’s 3 wickets haul in his four over for 20 runs, Delhi Capitals could only score 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.
