"You have decided it is my last, Not me..."- MS Dhoni gives a savage reply when asked about last IPL season at Toss

MS Dhoni is probably the biggest name in Indian cricket. He is the most successful captain for India at the international level and is also the only captain in the world to have won the Champions Trophy, the ODI World Cup, and the T20 World Cup.

Not just at international level, he is also brilliant in the Indian Premier League. Dhoni has been the captain of the Chennai Super Kings since the inaugural season in 2008 and has led them to four titles so far. Under him, CSK has played nine IPL finals, which is the most for any IPL captain.

Dhoni announced his international retirement in August 2020, but he is still active in the IPL. But over the last few seasons, a lot of times, the question of his retirement has risen up. Even ahead of the 16th edition, some reports confirmed that MS Dhoni would play his last season in 2023.

Fans are also coming in huge numbers to support him, whether he is playing in Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, or anywhere else. The CSK skipper himself admitted earlier in an IPL game that this is the last phase of his career.

But on Wednesday, when presenter Danny Morrison asked him about the feeling of playing in the last season, Dhoni gave a cheeky reply. Notably, CSK is taking on the Lucknow Super Giants in the 45th game of the tournament in Lucknow. Morrison asked Dhoni, “Clearly, this wonderful swansong tour, your last. How are you enjoying it?”

The CSK skipper replied, “You have decided it is my last (smiles). Not me. We’ll bowl first. The fact that wicket was under covers and it looks a bit tacky, so we’ll look to bowl first. You have to see all conditions and venue. For us, Deepak (Chahar) is fit, so he comes in for Akash (Singh). Rest of the team is the same.”

CSK has lost two back-to-back games, which have pushed them to fourth place on the table. Chennai needs to win this game to inch closer to a place in the playoffs. On the other hand, LSG is ranked third on the table.
