“He should learn from MS Dhoni” – Virender Sehwag reacts to Rishabh Pant’s lack of finishing in IPL 2022

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has not been able to do much with his bat so far in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, scoring just 188 runs in eight matches this season at a strike rate of 154.10, with his highest score being 41. He has got good starts in some matches but he has not been able to convert them into big innings.

Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag has come forward and said that Pant will have to play a big innings now as Delhi Capitals’ middle-order has flopped badly this season and it has been a matter of concern for the team. Apart from this, he also said that as a MS Dhoni fan, the youngster should learn how to finish the match.

Virender Sehwag while talking to Cricbuzz said that Rishabh Pant will be an important player for Delhi Capitals and added that it is important to get runs from middle-order even if the openers do well. He added that if Rishabh is a fan of MS Dhoni then he should learn from him to finish the match as he has the ability to score 20 to 25 runs in the last over, but for that he has to stand at the crease till the last over.

“If he is an MS Dhoni fan, he should learn from him,” a part of Sehwag’s statement reads.

Pant was in the news for all the wrong reasons during DC’s last match against Rajasthan Royals when the game was briefly halted following a controversial decision by the on-field umpires not to signal a no-ball for height. The young captain Pant protested the umpire’s decision by asking the batsmen to leave the field immediately. He had to pay his full match fee as a fine for breaking the code of conduct after the match.

Talking about Delhi Capitals’ performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 so far, in out of 8 matches they have won only 4, while lost 4 matches and they currently sits 6th in the points table with 8 points table beside their name.
