The forthcoming IPL 2023 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is a much-anticipated event, as it marks the return of former RCB captain Virat Kohli to his home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
This stadium is also the location of the ‘Virat Kohli Pavilion’. Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have already arrived in Delhi, and ahead of the game, they visited the French Embassy and met with his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, childhood friend Shalaj Sondhi, and mother Neha Sondhi on Wednesday.
RCB’s official social media account has shared a “behind-the-scenes” video of Kohli’s meeting with his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, his childhood friend Shalaj Sondhi, and his mother Neha Sondhi.
In the video, Neha Sondhi fondly remembers how Kohli once told her that he would marry a “heroine” someday, during their time at the Madan Lal Academy when he saw a poster of a film or an advertisement outside the venue.
Rajkumar Sharma, Kohli’s former coach, recalled the day when a young Virat came to train with him nearly 25 years ago. He mentioned that Kohli was very active, hyper, and dedicated, with a strong desire to dominate from the very beginning. He also noted that Shalaj and Kohli were close friends from his academy.
The upcoming match at Kohli’s home ground, where he started his cricketing career, is bound to be an emotional one for the cricketing icon. Fans are eagerly anticipating Kohli’s performance in the game. The match is crucial for both teams as they compete for a place in the playoffs.
