Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won a much needed match in Hyderabad as the purple army has beaten the home team, the orange army at their home to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
Batting first after winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 171 runs. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh were the star with the bat as the former scored 42 runs while the latter scored 46 runs.
Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost 3 wickets in the powerplay itself. Off form Harry Brook was the 4th wicket to fall for the Orange Army.
Then after, both Heinrich Klaasen and captain Aiden Markram scripted a brilliant comeback. The former was finally dismissed by Shardul Thakur after scoring a quickfire 36 of 20 balls while Markram was dismissed at the crucial stages after scoring 41 runs in 40 balls.
Things were looking tight until Abdul Samad made it the comfortable one for Hyderabad. However, his wicket in the final swung the match as Varun Chakravarthy gave away only 3 runs while defending 9 runs in the final over.
