The Australian cricket team have once again broken Indians’ as they defeat the Indian cricket team in the semi-final 1 of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa.
India went into the match as the underdogs but were close to victory. But it was actually the last 2 overs of India’s chase that gave Australia the victory.
Batting first, Australia scored 172 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney gave Australia a great start as the former scored 25 runs while Mooney scored 54 runs in 37 balls.
Australia skipper Meg Lanning remained not out for 49 runs while Ashley Gardner scored 31 runs in 18 balls.
Chasing the target, Team India got off to a bad start as Smriti Mandhana was dismissed early on for 2. India lost its first 3 wickets for just 28 runs. Thereafter, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues put on a 50 plus partnership before the latter was dismissed for 43 runs while Harmanpreet was run out after scoring a fifty.
Despite losing wicket, Indian lower-order didn’t give up and batted well to take India close to victory. India needed 20 runs of the last over but could only score 4 runs and lost 1 wicket. India required 16 runs in the last over but could only score 10 runs and Australia won the match by 5 runs.
