New Zealand cricket team’s 31-years-old Michael Bracewell not only did he saved the team from a disastrous loss, but he almost took the team to victory until his wicket in the last over ended all the hopes for the Kiwis.

The first match of the 3 match One Day International (ODI) series between the hosts Indian cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team was played yesterday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium where the hosts won the match by just 12 runs.

Batting first in the match, Team India scored 349 runs, thanks to a brilliant double hundred by young Indian batsman Shubman Gill.

Gill played an inning of 208 runs from 149 balls and with some decent contribution from the other batters, Team India managed to reach a big enough total.

New Zealand were off to a disastrous start, losing 5 wickets for 110 runs and then 6 wicket for 131 runs. But there came the Kiwi all-rounder Michael Bracewell, who not only changed a course of the match, but also almost won the match for the Kiwis.

Bracewell scored a brilliant 140 runs from 78 balls that included some really fiery shots. But in the end, a perfect delivery from Shardul Thakur meant the Bracewell was given LBW out in the last over of the match.

With that, the Indian team won the match and took a 1-0 lead in the series. However, despite New Zealand’s loss, the Twitterati believes that players like him and the Sri Lankan cricket team captain Dasun Shanaka are deserved candidate for a IPL contract.
