The Indian cricket team suffered defeat in the 1st match of the 3 T20I series against New Zealand last night at JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi by 21 runs as the Kiwis take a 1-0 lead.
After India dominated the ODI series, New Zealand kick starts the T20I series with a win, despite with a rotated squad. Team India is also testing out new players and new setups.
Winning the toss, Hardik Pandya decided to bowl first. But the New Zealand team did well to post 176 runs on the board. Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell both scored half-century while Washington Sundar was the best for India with the ball.
Chasing the target, the Men in Blue lost 3 wickets in the powerplay itself. But Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya regained the momentum. As soon as Suryakumar got out, Indian batting order started to fall down again.
Team India could only score 155 runs. However, other than Suryakumar Yadav, again Washington Sundar was brilliant with the bat as well. He scored 50 runs from 28 balls. He was also outstanding on the field as well.
Meanwhile Hardik Pandya told the media after the defeat that it was like Washington Sundar playing against New Zealand rather than India playing against New Zealand.
After this statement from the Indian captain, the Twitterati blasted on the Indian captain.
